2009 Annual General Meeting
The 2009 NSGA Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Women’s Council House, 989 Young Avenue, Halifax, Nova Scotia. For further details, please contact the NSGA at info@novascotiagambia.ca or download an invitation here.
NSGA De-Clutter Project
NSGA Volunteers are piloting a recycling program whereby they will personally assist individuals to market and manage the sale of valuable but unwanted item(s). Proceeds of the sale are returned to individuals who then have the option of donating a portion or the entire value of the item to the NSGA. Please call Bertilla Sampson at 431-7130 if you would like to contribute an item for sale during the months of September and October 2009.
Foundations of Board Governance Workshop
Join us Saturday November 14th, 2009 for this intensive workshop which will enable you to help your board take an international approach to effective governance. Presented by Nova Scotia Gambia Association and BLSmith Groupwork Inc., with all proceeds to support the NSGA, this fundraiser provides the opportunity to help your organization provide more effective governance while at the same time supporting the good work of the NSGA. Contact Amber Germain or download the flyer for more information.
Rotary Support in Sierra Leone
The Nova Scotia-Gambia Association would like to sincerely thank the contribution of the Rotary Club of Halifax, Northwest; the Rotary Club of Dartmouth; Corner Brook Rotary Club; and Rotary International for their invaluable contribution to the NSGA in Sierra Leone – a new Ford Ranger!
With the new vehicle, staff and volunteers are now able to travel to rural and remote areas within Sierra Leone to spread important health information and community development skills to villages and groups often overlooked within the country. The terrain and roads in rural Sierra Leone are incredibly poor and almost impassable during the rainy season; however with help of the new vehicle our staff and volunteers are now actively training and teaching in some of the most remote villages in the country throughout the heavy rains.
