FAQs

How does NSGA fund its programs?

NSGA receives grants from various government and international development agencies to fund its projects. Funds from Canadian donors are critical because CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) and other international agencies require matching funds. NSGA also hosts fundraising events throughout the year.

How much does NSGA spend on programs in West Africa?

90% of NSGA’s money is spent on projects in West Africa, primarily in The Gambia. In 2010, NSGA funded projects in Sierra Leone but it has subsequently closed its office there.

How much does NSGA spend on administration and other operating costs?

NSGA is able to keep overhead expenses to a minimum because of its large scale use of volunteers. NSGA spends about 10% of its revenue on operating costs, including fund raising. We are also required by CIDA to undertake public engagement activities in Canada to inform people of our development work in Africa and to engage the public in development projects abroad.

How will my donation have an impact?

Almost 90% of every dollar you donate goes directly to NSGA’s programs in The Gambia

How can I make a donation?

Is my donation tax deductable?
